You do not try to stop a Lion from hunting
S O WHY DO YOU CHANGE WHO I AM?
S O WHY DO YOU CHANGE WHO I AM?
It had only been one week. Seven days precisely since she had arrived at this ghastly asylum disguised as a school. That’s nearly 168 hours; 10,080 minutes; 604,800 seconds in pure hell. There was no escape; her parents had already given the headmaster strict orders when she arrived to never let her leave the premises, even on days off. Trapped in this twisted experimental program to test the limits of how weak vampires could be or hold out on pathetic replacement supplements. It was all a cruel joke and she waited for the day that her parents would pick her up and say surprise and take her home. Far, far away from here so she could return to her secluded life and withdraw from all again, away from reality.
But reality was that this now is her reality and no amount of moping would help get her out. Miwa sat high in a tree, a fair distance out of sight while gazing up at the stars. Long, silky lashes lay across her cheeks as she exhaled softly, letting the sound of nature surround her. At this time of night, no birds were out. No, only the creatures of the night were lurking. Owls hooted while their heads spun, looking for their next prey as bats screeched at their meal tickets that thought they could escape. This was the time for the night life to arise and do what it did best. But here she was, up in a damn tree with a pocket of pills to quench her desired thirst. Others like her sat in class rooms filling their heads with nonsense not needed for their kind, not for our style of life. Not far away though slept a feast, a banquet large enough to last many nights for all the night hunters. Now they all slept gently with heads on fluffy pillows and nestled in blankets. Their pulse would be slow, the heart pumping gently after a long day of adrenaline rushes. As Miwa sat there with her eyes shut, the image of a body in bed came into mind. She could see the hot breath escape their lips, shoulders moving slowly, and the blood moving through their system ever so steadily up and down from head to toe while their precious hearts throbbed to keep moving.
To her distaste, she could feel a small amount of saliva run down the corner of her lip. What little blood that was in her boiled while her teeth clamped together and her fist flew through a tree blanch, sending it crashing to the ground. With a haze in her eyes, she watched the magnificent liquid run between her knuckles and to her wrist. Such bright and beautiful crimson color, thicker than water but thinner than sap from a tree. Yes, this was the way nature was supposed to work. We do not stop the lion as it feast on the zebra it captures. Nor do we interfere when a mother wolf rejects the weak runt of the litter because she knows in the future it will not be strong enough to fight for itself. So why and change nature by keeping vampires from drinking the blood they crave and need to survive?!
As if in a trance, she swooned back into the tree and lapped at the delicious liquid on her hand. The owls hooted and the bats screeched while she drank the night away.
